Keys points of the project

This is a Christmas story: Atida arrived one Boxing Day morning (?) with a very simple request: migrate Atida Spain and Portugal to Magento 2 Hyvä in three months. The request was simple: Integration of two shops on Spryker with expiry dates with Algolia, Tryton, Clerk.io, Connectif, Minderest, Akeneo and Yotpo, and a loyalty program for the use of virtual money (Atida Cash) in the form of points on the platform. Plus, two important factors: the design, already defined, cannot significantly change from the current one, and the shop must have an optimal level of performance given the high concurrency and conversion.

Project requirements and services provided

Until now, ATIDA has had different ecommerce platforms for its various brands and countries, using Prestashop, Spryker and also Magento. ATIDA aims to unify tools based on Magento 2 as reference, starting with Portugal and Spain, and gradually adding the rest of the shops in its eCommerce ecosystem to this platform.

It was clear that the main challenge would be to determine the specific scope and prioritise appropriately. This was in order to be able to build the maximum in parallel without penalising quality nor capacity to validate the functionalities, assemble a high performance team and work in parallel with different developments that have a high level of dependency in many cases.

29 people worked on this project over three months (Architects, BackEnds, FrontEnds, Qa, Project and Delivery Managers). This gives an idea of the scale of the complexity of construction and management.
So, let’s get to work. The intense initial ‘discovery’ phase is first, allowing us to delve into the details of the request. Above all, we must analyse the integrations that will form the key points of the project, together with the performance of the frontend and, of course, the data migrations between two different technologies.

It is important to note that ATIDA is a very experienced client. It knows what it wants and brings ‘finished homework’ in terms of usability and the Look and Feel of the page. It also provides metrics on virtually every flow so that the decisions about what, how and where are based on real conversion data.

It is also important to highlight the close and necessary collaboration with Teradisk as an expert provider of infrastructures that support high-concurrency Magento 2 Hyvä based solutions, which has contributed greatly to the success of the project.
